Our customer approached us following problems with a blocked sluice gate which had on several occasions led to flooding.  They needed to monitor the gate as it was impossible to predict when blockages would occur.  This frequently led to site visits occurring once flooding had taken place.

SeSys were requested to supply a camera system which could monitor the gate, sending alerts automatically to the relevant personnel, should a blockage be detected or if the water rose above a certain level.  During a site visit to determine the camera placement it was noted that the ideal location would leave the camera vulnerable to vandalism.  SeSys took this on board and developed a hood to protect the camera from any attack.

Due to the intended positioning of the camera SeSys worked together with an engineering company who specialised in installation on environmental sites, enabling the configuration and installation of the camera to be carried out quickly and professionally.
Through use of the camera to monitor the sluice gate the number of floods has significantly reduced, enabling the customer to manage the site.  Reduced call outs and cleanup costs have also saved the company money and has helped to prevent costly environmental fines.
