Our client was experiencing problems with the way in which vehicles were using the cess reception areas of their sites.  They found that some vehicles were not discharging waste in the appropriate areas, which was causing environmental problems.   Their requirement was to monitor the cess reception areas, capturing and saving images when vehicles arrived. 

SeSys were approached to evaluate the possibility of supplying a system which would capture images of the vehicle’s registration number and driver identification to be saved for identification purposes.  A high resolution image was required as the vehicles would be a distance from the camera and moving, and a date and time stamps was essential for cross referencing of images, should any incident take place.  Following site visits and successful demonstrations the client decided to move ahead with SeSys solution.

Due to the layout of the sites a wireless system was installed, removing the disruption and expense of installing cable at every camera position.   Each camera is mounted with a wireless antenna, sending data back to the central office at each site.  The images are then sent, via ADSL (broadband or PSTN, to a central storage and hosting unit.  The client can monitor both live images from site and through a hosting service provided by SeSys, allowing them to investigate any suspected non-compliance even after the event has occurred, allowing it to be dealt with in accordance with their policy.

Utilising camera systems has enabled personnel to avoid unnecessary site visits.  Through monitoring of the reception area compliance and on site cleanliness has improved.   Any non-compliance can quickly be traced back to the vehicle concerned, enabling the appropriate action to be taken. Due to fewer site visits the company has also noted a dramatic reduction in their carbon footprint.
